This festive event celebrates the publication/book signing of “Aloft! at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta”the new 120 page photographic coffee table book providing a visceral and visual overview of the nine day Balloon Fiesta as well as insight into the history and nomenclature of the sport. “Aloft!” is the creative work of Doug Heller and Bobbi Valentine, who were the Executive Producers of the 2002 award-winning documentary The Trail of Painted Ponies. The inspiration for “Aloft!” is the 2012 40th Anniversary of the International Balloon Festival, one of New Mexico’s biggest attractions. The book will retail for $24.95 and be available in August, 2011. From 2 – 4 PM, guests will enjoy sweets and champagne tasting presented by Jill Cashman, Sales Consultant for National Distributing Company, New Mexico. From 4 – 6 PM there will be hors d’oeuvres provided by La Posada, and jazz performance by the John Trentacosta Trio featuring Brian Bennett, piano; Michael Olivola, bass; and John Trentacosta, drums. There will be cash bar service throughout the afternoon and Doug Heller and Bobbi Valentine will be there personally to autograph copies of “Aloft!” They will be joined by KOB-TV co-anchor and weatherman Steve Stucker who will be displaying his famous hat and coat Balloon Fiesta pin collection. Books will be available for purchase after August 20th from Garcia Books of Santa Fe. |
