Overview

The Chase Baird Group represents a truly postmodern musical niche with hints of influence ranging from avant-garde composers Steve Reich and John Adams to jazz masters Miles Davis and Paul Motian to drum-and-bass phenomenon Aphex Twin. The group brings together some of the most profound artists of the emerging generation.

Personnel

Saxophonist Chase Baird is one of a small handful of exceptionally talented musicians to be mentored by the late great Michael Brecker. He has performed at venues throughout the United States, Canada and Japan with an impressive roster of musicians including Terri Lyne Carrington, Roy Hargrove, Stefon Harris and others.

Pianist Julian Pollack has recently performed sold out shows at both the Blue Note in New York and at Yoshi's in Oakland. He has been featured on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz show on NPR as well as on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle’s prestigious “Ovation” segment. He has performed/recorded/toured with Joshua Redman, Miguel Zenon, Ari Hoenig, Joe Lovano and others.

One of the most in demand young guitarists in New York, Nir Felder's is a new voice in jazz guitar. Felder has since performed around the world with artists including Greg Osby, Meshell N'degeocello, Chuck Mangione, John Scofield, Cindy Blackman, Mark Turner, Chris Potter, Jason Moran, Dave Douglas, Stanley Clarke and George Duke.

Bassist Chris Tordini frequently performs and records with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Logan Richardson, Jim Black, Andy Milne's Dapp Theory, Ari Hoenig, Greg Osby and many others.

Drummer Steve Lyman has described by jazz legend Billy Hart as “One of the great young drummers in the world today.” He has performed/toured/recorded with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Street, George Garzone, Bill McHenry, Joe Martin, Jose James, Junior Mance and George Colligan among others.
