The Nacha Mendez Latin Jazz Trio features New Mexican vocalist/guitarist Nacha Mendez, voted Best Female Vocalist in the 2009 Santa Fe Reporter's Best of Reader's Poll.
Nacha has studied flamenco guitar with Manuel Granados of the Music Conservatory of Barcelona, toured Europe and Japan as an opera singer, and collaborated on Spanish recordings with composer Steve Peters including Bodega de Amor and Volando. Nacha is a National Endowment of the Arts recipient for Music and is known for her original, eclectic, pan-Latin-style songs. She can be heard performing with the Madreselva Tango group, and performing solo acoustic at El Farol and La Boca.
Jazz pianist John Rangel has performed with Nat Adderley, Marcus Printup, Ira Sullivan, Ravi Coltrane, Pharaoh Saunders and numerous other major jazz figures. He has performed at jazz venues and festivals around the world and shared 2009 New Mexico Music Awards Producer of the Year credits with Luis Guerra(see below) for work on Hillary Smith's "No Easy Way."
Bassist Luis Guerra has performed with Kevin Hays, Bobby Shew, Doug Lawrence and recorded and toured with Grammy-nominated songwriters Alejandro Escovedo, Kim Richie, and Patty Griffin.
