Saxophonist Miguel Zenón has performed and/or recorded with a quite a diverse array of artists including: David Sanchez, Danilo Pérez, Charlie Haden, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, Bobby Hutcherson, Jason Lindner, Guillermo Klein y Los Guachos, The Mingus Big Band, Brian Lynch, Jerry Gonzalez & The Fort Apache Band, Ray Barretto, Mika Pohjola, Steve Coleman and Branford Marsalis, among others. He is a founding member as a performing artist and composer with the SF jazz Collective, a celebrated octet whose illustrious members compose, perform, and teach. Zenon was just named a Guggenheim Fellowship recipient. Of all the recipients only he, Gerri Allen and Rufus Reid represented the jazz genre! He has four recordings to his credit, the most recent, just released, being “Awake!”
